More About Fine Art
Reproductions: Commonly called "prints", fine art
reproductions used to be made primarily by methods such as offset
lithography, which required a large print run to be economical, and
which did not have the same look as original artwork. These are the
reproductions many people are most familiar with. However, in the last
several years, digital imaging has combined with high-resolution
inkjet printing to allow high-quality reproductions to be produced
economically in small numbers, using long-lasting fade-resistant inks
and art quality papers (or even canvas). |
More About Giclee's:
A giclee (zhee-clay) is a reproduction made from a digital scan of the
artwork, printed on what is essentially a big, fancy inkjet printer
(originally, an Iris printer, but now also several other similar
printers). Giclee reproductions of watercolor originals printed on
watercolor paper using archival inks look very much like original
watercolors, and should last just as long. I offer giclees in
signed, numbered limited editions of 75 at a size smaller than the
original. In addition, I will take special orders for signed, numbered
full-size reproductions until a maximum edition size of 15 is reached.
At this point, the image is retired. |
More About Archival
Inkjet: I also offer inkjet reproductions of many of my
paintings. These are produced from digital photographs using a smaller
inkjet printer, again with archival ink and 100% cotton rag paper with
the same texture as watercolor paper.
